Our colleague Panagiotis Papadimitriou from University of Macedonia was invited to give the Keynote Talk Towards the Convergence of IoT and Edge Computing: Opportunities and Challenges at the 2023 International Conference on Computer, Information, and Telecommunication Systems, CITS 2023 in Genoa, Italy (10-12 July 2023).
This conference is an international forum for scientists, engineers, and practitioners to present their latest research and development results in all areas of Computer, Information, and Telecommunication Systems (CITS). The conference featured tutorials, technical paper presentations, and keynote talks.
The talk covered relevant technologies and standards from time-sensitive networking (TSN) that can reduce the latency and jitter in the communication between IoT devices and their virtual counterparts, often termed as Virtual Objects (VOs). Challenges and potential solutions for the orchestration of VOs on edge computing infrastructures were explained, based on the experience gained from recent and ongoing research projects, such as NEPHELE.
Other distinguished keynote speakers in this event were Stefano Giordano, Floriano De Rango and Chiara Lombardo.
