NEPHELE in FNWF
Baltimore, Maryland, USA

NEPHELE participated in the IEEE Future Networks World Forum (IEEE FNWF) that took place in Baltimore, MD, USA on 13–15 November 2023. This event features special sessions that highlight and showcase exciting developments in 5G and Beyond technologies that are occurring in both industry and academia. FNWF is also an outstanding opportunity to showcase products and applications to an enthusiastic and engaged audience. It provides an ideal platform to reach hundreds of key decision-makers involved in 5G and future network generations.

The symposium "Vision and Facts on 6G and Future Networks in Europe", hosted by FNFW, was celebrated on 15 November 2023 at 11:00-12:30 EST and was chaired by Antonio Skarmeta (Universidad de Murcia; Spain). Other symposium organisers were Kostas Trichias (6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association, 6G-IA); Mario Scillia, (European Commission) and Mikko A. Uusitalo (Nokia Bell Labs).

This symposium included the panel "6G challenges in Europe" moderated by Antonio Skarmeta with the following panelists: Gilberto Berardinelli, Andreas Kunz, Michail Kourtis, Johann Marquez-Barja and Kostas Trichias.

The symposium also included the workshop "Beyond current 5G architectures for 6G services". This workshop was supported by NEPHELE and other projects (FLUIDOS, OASEES, RIGOUROUS, HORSE). Workshop co-chairs were Antonio Skarmeta, Diego R. López (Telefónica), Chen Tao (VTT Finland), Akis Kourtis (Demokritos Greece), Slawomir Kuklinski (WUT, Poland), Symeon Papavassiliou (NTUA, Greece) and Pascal Bisson (Thales, France).

Antonio Skarmeta, Jorge Gallego and Ana Hermosilla from ODINS delivered a scientific paper in relation to the NEPHELE project, titled “Virtual On-board Unit Migration in a Multi-access Smart-Campus 5G Architecture” at the IEEE Future Networks World Forum (FNWF) - S07: Symposium on Future Networks for Connected and Automated Mobility (CAM) · 14 Nov. 2023.
