osm 16 ecosystem day
Online

Guillermo Gómez Chávez from Eviden-an Atos business introduced NEPHELE at the OpenSourceMANO Ecosystem Day (OSM#16).

The presentation was an online demo entitled "OCI-Registries for OSM xNFs -Novel storage and distribution approach for xNFs artifacts to improve interoperability of devs, xNF providers and MNOs, by leveraging commercial-grade implementations of the OCI specifications."

OpenSourceMANO is an EU funded ETSI-hosted project to develop an Open Source NFV Management and Orchestration (MANO) software stack aligned with ETSI NFV. As a community-led project, OSM delivers a production-quality MANO stack that meets operators' requirements for commercial NFV deployments.

NEPHELE aims to enable the efficient, reliable and secure end-to-end orchestration of hyper-distributed applications (HDAs) over programmable infrastructure that is spanning across the compute continuum from Cloud-to-Edge-to-IoT. As part of the advanced management of the network part of the compute continuum, NEPHELE will develop autonomic and ad-hoc functionalities covering Software-Defined Networks (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) Management and Orchestration (MANO) systems. Additionally, NEPHELE is a using an OCI-Registry (Open Container Initiative) to store NFV and SDN artifacts (xNF) compatible with the Open Source MANO (OSM) software stack, which is the building block of a development environment that aims to optimize the developers’ tasks and contribute to the interoperability of xNF providers and Mobile Network Operators (MNOs).

After this collaboration in OSM#16, NEPHELE has been added to the OSM Ecosystem Research page. This page provides a list of Research activities that are using or contributing to OSM. A short project description a link to our website is provided. Other active projects in the list are 5GMETA, 5G-ROUTES, 5TONIC, Containernet, IoT-NGIN, NETEDGE, ONOFRE-3, Smart5Grid, SN4I and VITAL5G. The list also includes completed projects like 5G-CARMEN, 5GCity, 5Genesis, 5G ESSENCE, 5G EVE, 5GinFIRE, 5G-MEDIA, 5G-RANGE, 5GROWTH, 5GTANGO, 5G-TRANSFORMER, 5G-VINNI, 5GZORRO, INSPIRE-5Gplus, Metro-Haul, MATILDA, NGPaaS, NR5-G, PALANTIR, PLEDGER, SaT5G, SHIELD, SliceNet, SONATA, SPIDER, SUPERFLUIDITY or TeraFlow.
