The Open Source Monitoring Conference (OMSC) is an annual meeting of international monitoring experts, where future trends and objectives are set. The main goal of monitoring is to ensure a smooth operation of IT infrastructure. Potential errors should be solved in advance so that they don’t become problems. At OSMC best practices that lead to higher availability and stability of the IT environment are showcased.

OMSC program offers technical sessions, case studies, best practices as well as pioneering solutions and future perspectives. Additionally, several in-depth workshops the day prior to the conference are featured. This 18th edition had an audience of over 200 people from around the world and more than 30 expert speakers and took place in Holiday Inn City Centre Hotel in Nuremberg (Germany) on 19-21 November 2024.

On this conference, our colleague Jonathan Rivalan (Alter Way - SMILE) presented "Palindrome.js: 3D Monitoring for Distributed Systems" on 21st November 2024 at 11:15 CET in Jacobi Room.

This is the abstract of his presentation: "Monitoring is essential for system administrators to detect anomalies and identify behaviors ensuring data security and ensure the seamless functioning of systems. Palindrome.js is a JavaScript library designed for monitoring system metrics and KPIs in a 3D environment. It groups metrics into layers, enhancing the understanding of relationships among different metrics, indicators, behaviors, and trends in distributed systems. Users can effortlessly customize or expand the library with their algorithms, visual behaviors, styles, and color schemes. Palindrome.js integrates seamlessly with Grafana as a panel plugin, allowing users to define layers and metrics. Values are obtained in real-time from time-series databases (such as InfluxDB, Prometheus, and Graphite) and can be linked with sensors following the Web of Things (WoT) standard."
